- Pre Underwriting Specialist focusing on loan analysis and documentation for approvals. Analyzing borrower eligibility and structuring loan scenarios for CrossCountry Mortgage.
Responsibilities
- Fully qualifying and pre-underwriting loan files upfront to ensure clean submissions.
- Loan analysis, scenario assessment, and strategic structuring prior to disclosure delivery and processing.
- Identifying documentation gaps early in the process and communicating required items clearly.
- Reviewing, verifying, and pre-underwriting supporting documentation such as paystubs, W-2s, bank statements, credit reports, and court orders.
- Performing advanced income analysis, including complex and self-employed borrower scenarios.
- Conducting credit reviews and assessing borrower risk profiles.
- Reviewing borrower’s assets and validating eligibility requirements.
- Running and interpreting automated underwriting findings through DU and LP.
- Preparing detailed written findings that include income calculations, DTI, risk considerations, contingencies, and recommended next steps.
- Monitoring and helping manage a pipeline that may include various mortgage products.
Requirements
- 3+ years of mortgage processing, underwriting, or origination experience.
- Experience with Encompass LOS, preferred.
- Knowledge of RESPA guidelines and all mortgage and consumer regulations.
- Knowledge of DU, LP, Microsoft Outlook, and Windows.
- Skilled at interpreting and applying mortgage guidelines at a level comparable to an underwriter.
- Skilled at advanced income calculations.
- Excellent math and analytics skills.
- Excellent prioritization and time management skills to meet deadlines.
