About the role

  • Commercial Underwriting Analyst reviewing and analyzing insurance claims and underwriting guidelines. Collaborating with agents and ensuring compliance with underwriting rules for Fremont Insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and analyzes internal/external investigations, inspections and/or statuses to ensure rating/premium value integrity
  • Ensures meeting underwriting guidelines and corporate goals
  • Initiates policy adjustments for commercial product line(s) and tabulates results
  • Compares the rating characteristics of specific accounts and formulates a course of action to ensure compliance with corporate underwriting rules and procedures
  • Provides advanced technical and product information in response to questions/inquiries
  • Corresponds and maintains professional relationships with agents and producers
  • Updates rating criteria on affected policies
  • Completes activity sheets for compiling monthly reports
  • Performs calculations of premiums recovered to ascertain impact of inappropriate ratings
  • Underwrites and processes renewals and endorsements within commercial underwriting analyst authority level

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two years insurance experience reviewing claims for possible changes in rating or acceptability status
  • Analyzing insurance needs and determining appropriate levels of coverage
  • Working with various commercial insurance product lines
  • Investigating and validating proper rating
  • Knowledge of company underwriting policies, procedures and practices
  • Inspection techniques related to commercial insurance
  • Communicating effectively with others
  • Presenting complex information in a clear and concise manner
  • Accessing and working with rate account information on computer terminal
  • Reviewing new or renewal commercial insurance accounts to determine appropriate rating classifications
  • Working within a team environment
  • College level coursework in Business Administration or a related field (Preferred)
  • CPCU, IIA, CIC or other insurance related coursework (Preferred)
