About the role

  • Assistant Social Media Manager developing strategies and managing content across social media platforms. Collaborating with analysts and strategists in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own the content calendar: Lead and maintain the central social media calendar across all GCA channels (LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and emerging spaces), ensuring alignment to strategy, priorities, and opportunities.
  • Enable planning for the future: Collaborate with strategists and analysts to turn insights into actionable plans.
  • Identify moments, topics, and trends to respond to, helping the team stay ahead.
  • Channel coordination: Ensure planned activity across platforms is coherent, well-timed, and meets audience needs across differing business areas and themes.
  • Shoot organisation: Lead the logistics, scheduling, and operational delivery of content shoots - including briefs, suppliers, talent, creators, and locations.
  • Search-led content development: Support the team with SEO-driven planning, including keyword-informed briefs, optimisation recommendations, and insight gathering.
  • AI-enabled workflows: Apply AI tools (including Copilot) to streamline workflows, enhance planning, improve briefing, and support content production.
  • Creator management support: Help organise and coordinate work with our internal creator collective, ensuring they have briefs, materials, and timelines required for high-quality delivery.
  • Quality control & consistency: Maintain oversight of content outputs, ensuring we meet our cadence goals across channels as well as maintaining the balance of themes and formats.
  • Reactive planning: Help coordinate rapid responses to cultural moments, breaking insights, and reputation opportunities, working closely with the wider Corporate Affairs team.
  • Run the day-to-day planning rhythm for the social team, ensuring clarity on priorities and deliverables.
  • Lead weekly and monthly content planning sessions, sharing insights, upcoming moments, and opportunities.
  • Maintain a meticulously organised content pipeline and ensure smooth coordination between creators, planners, and data specialists.
  • Keep detailed track of assets, timelines, and publishing windows across multiple platforms.
  • Monitor cultural, industry, and platform trends, ensuring the team is ready to act on moments with high reputational value.
  • Support the integration of search behaviours into content planning, especially for YouTube and TikTok.
  • Help optimise content ideas, copy, and formats for discoverability.
  • Use intelligent solutions to streamline content processes, briefs, and planning.
  • Champion experimentation and smarter ways of working across the team.

Requirements

  • Experience working in social media, digital content, or editorial planning - ideally within a large or complex organisation.
  • Strong organisational skills, with experience handling content calendars, workflows, or production schedules.
  • A strong interest in search-led content, SEO behaviours, and how people discover brand information online.
  • Familiarity with platforms including TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and LinkedIn - and what great content looks like on each.
  • Experience organising content shoots, working with creators, or supporting production teams.
  • AI literacy, especially in using tools to improve planning, briefs, and outputs.
  • Creative, curious, and insight-driven, with an eye for content opportunities.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience with corporate brands, reputation management, or purpose-led content is desirable but not essential.
