About the role

  • Software Developer working in the Scientific Databases and Visualization group at HITS. Responsible for software development and providing data management services in an agile environment.

Responsibilities

  • Developing software in agreement with colleagues and partners
  • Applying an agile development approach including automatic testing and test-driven development
  • Installing and administering the software on servers of the SDBV
  • Interacting with national and international users of tools and services

Requirements

  • A degree (university or university of applied sciences) in computer science, electronics, applied physics or similar
  • Previous experience in web engineering and software implementation
  • Ideally fluent in a convention-over-configuration framework such as Ruby on Rails or Spring, Spring MVC or J2EE
  • Ability to comprehend, extend, and modify other people's code, mainly JAVA
  • Fluency in English is mandatory
  • Problem-solving attitude, communication skills, willingness to continuously learn
  • Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary, multi-site (inter-) national team
