Maintain and improve core infrastructure including Active Directory, VMware virtualisation, Windows Server environments, and Microsoft 365.
Manage and troubleshoot network infrastructure such as switches, firewalls, VLANs, and wireless systems.
Administer hosted and cloud-based solutions, ensuring they align with business and technical requirements.
Support and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure operational resilience.
Deliver technical support across network environments, including WAN/LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, remote management, and security.
Implement and support remote access solutions such as VPN and Terminal Services.
Monitor system alerts and notifications, responding promptly through established service ticket processes.
Provide escalation support for complex technical issues raised by the service desk.
Maintain and regularly update system documentation.
Participate in change management processes and contribute to infrastructure projects.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders, keeping them informed of incident progress, changes, or planned outages.
Pursue relevant industry certifications as part of ongoing professional development.
Assist in fulfilling security and compliance requirements.
Requirements
***Required Experience and Skills***
You should have around 3–5 years of experience in an infrastructure or systems administration role. We're looking for demonstrated ability in the following areas:
Windows Server administration (2016/2019/2022), including installation, configuration, patching, and troubleshooting.
Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
Experience with VMware vSphere, including managing ESXi hosts, vCenter, and virtual machine lifecycle.
Familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration, particularly Exchange Online, Entra ID (Azure AD), and related security features.
Solid understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, and switching concepts.
Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting enterprise network equipment including firewalls.
Experience with backup and recovery solutions and storage technologies (SAN/NAS).
Understanding of ITIL principles for incident, problem, and change management.
Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot under pressure.
Ability to work independently and show initiative in planning and prioritising work.
***Desirable***
Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation and administration tasks.
Familiarity with endpoint management tools such as SCCM or Intune.
Exposure to hybrid cloud environments or Azure IaaS.
Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance requirements (e.g., ISO 27001).
Experience with enterprise antivirus, EDR, or SIEM solutions.
***Certifications***
Formal qualifications aren't essential, but relevant certifications would be advantageous. These might include Microsoft certifications (such as AZ-104, AZ-800/801, or MS-102), VMware VCP, Cisco CCNA, or CompTIA Network+ and Security+.
