About the role
- Mechanical Lead Engineer overseeing mechanical design and project management activities for automated warehouse solutions. Involved in full project cycle from sales to delivery in a global setting.
Responsibilities
- Manage all engineering activities of a project related to Mechanical Design.
- Ensure that relevant deliverables are in time, scope, quality and budget.
- Estimate and manage mechanical engineering-related project risks.
- Own the related planning and scheduling.
- Act as the point of contact for mechanical engineering.
- Involved in the full cycle of the project from sales through engineering up to handover.
- Identify improvements to engineering process and preparing supporting documentation.
- Support Sales team during sales phase by providing technical advice, supporting estimation effort, project schedule creation and understanding of required engineering skill set.
- Review As sold solution.
- Ensure resources from Mechanical Engineering Team with the right skill set in order to execute the project.
- Act as main Mechanical Engineering point of contact for Project Manager, Site manager, Procurement, Manufacturing as well as client architect, builder and design consultants.
- Lead project Mechanical Engineering teams through task allocation and reporting.
- Create and update Mechanical Engineering project status reports, financial forecasts, and schedule updates.
Requirements
- 5+ years hands on experience working within an industrial automation environment.
- Experience leading project teams on complex projects
- A working understanding of technical manuals & drawings, Mechanical/Electrical
- Working knowledge of ISO standards governing the automated warehouse industry
- Understanding of MS Project, JIRA, Excel and other project management tools
- Ability to make design decisions on a project
- Understand and use relevant design requirements such as the Machinery Directive and its harmonized standards
- Knowledge in Mechanical Conveyor Systems (MCS), with proven capability to challenge designs, validate concepts, and drive technically sound decisions under delivery pressure.
- Strong understanding mechanical standards, design expectations and installation constraints, and ability to translate them into executable engineering solutions.
- Ability to independently manage complex mechanical scopes, coordinate interfaces with Controls, Structures and Installation, and ensure full alignment with Amazon milestones and approval cycles.
