About the role

  • Senior Controls Hardware Engineer designing and delivering complex, compliant electrical systems for automated solutions at Dematic. Providing technical leadership in challenging design situations while fostering team collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret design input information to produce complex control system designs.
  • Ensure systems designed and supplied are CE Compliant to the Machinery Directive.
  • Produce design and manufacturing programmes.
  • Produce all associated documentation including, but not limited to, design calculations, design specifications, operation and maintenance manuals, and test specifications.
  • Design and produce electrical layout and schematic drawings using appropriate CAD tools.
  • Procurement of electrical control panels and installation services; and liaise with suppliers on technical matters.
  • Liaise and provide technical information to respective internal teams such as electrical installation supervisors, subcontractors, Project Sales, Project Engineers, Project Managers, Purchasing Department etc.
  • Provide technical backup to the service team as required, including bug fixes, enhancements, and modifications.
  • Drive continuous improvement by developing and championing ideas that boost productivity, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Act as a technical leader, guiding highly complex technical discussions and enabling effective knowledge transfer across teams.
  • Provide technical leadership in highly complex technical discussions and solutions.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience as Controls Hardware Engineer, Electrical Design Engineer or a similar role.
  • Educated to degree level (Bachelor’s degree or higher) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Extensive proven hands-on experience working within an industrial automation environment on high-complexity technical solutions.
  • Experience working with E-Plan, AutoCAD, MS Package.
  • A working understanding of Electrical and Electronic technical manuals & drawings.
  • Good understanding of distributed control systems and the principles of industrial networks used to connect and integrate control systems.
  • Strong understanding and use of relevant design requirements such as the Machinery Directive and its harmonised standards, with experience in FEM and BS standards preferred.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership qualities, including the confidence to guide complex engineering decisions.
  • Willingness to travel internationally to customer sites or other office locations for up to 20% of the time.
  • Full working proficiency in English.
  • Hold a valid driving license.
