Engineering Manager leading platform teams for Kaufland's e-commerce digital infrastructure focusing on backend architecture and identity management. Guiding a skilled team while maintaining and evolving web services.

Responsibilities

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead one of our platform teams.
This team plays a critical role in shaping and optimizing our internal platforms, focusing on Identity & Access Management (IAM), mailing services, and our backend architecture.
As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a highly skilled team that defines the technical foundation of our company.
The team’s main responsibilities include: Shaping the backend architecture: Providing guidelines and best practices to ensure high-quality and efficient backend development
Maintaining and evolving our shop monolith to keep it up to date with modern standards
Developing tooling and boilerplate code to empower other teams to build and manage backend services as easily and efficiently as possible
Mailing services: Maintaining and improving an existing mailing service that handles email templating and delivery. Ensuring the service remains stable and adaptable to new requirements
Identity & Access Management (IAM): Supporting teams by providing a project-based IAM solution that product teams can deploy independently
In this role, you will initially focus on hands-on technical tasks allowing you to gain a deep understanding of our infrastructure and system so that you know the code inside and out. Later, you will also take over managerial tasks and act as the people manager for the team.

You have a background in a product team, focusing on the right technical solutions and don’t shy away from owning your products end-to-end
You have several years of hands-on engineering experience in Golang and knowledge of PHP
Initial leadership experience through mentoring, coaching, or in a managerial position is beneficial but not required. We seek someone passionate about people management who wants to grow into an Engineering Manager role
You have experience with utilizing cloud and infrastructure resources and are familiar with tools like Kubernetes
Your communication and interpersonal skills stand out, enabling you to collaborate effectively with product teams.
You are fluent in English (C1) and enjoy working in an international environment
Your approach is results-oriented, with a dedicated focus on delivering top-notch solutions
