About the role
- Hardware Design Engineer developing creative and technically sound engineering solutions for Kaleidoscope. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet project requirements and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Delivers engineering design excellence.
- Generates inventive, fresh ideas expressed through sketching that meets functional requirements.
- Adjusts and/or incorporates changes in design based on feedback from management and/or client.
- Develops design concepts for products, parts and assemblies.
- Creates detailed CAD models of parts and assemblies.
- Develops product documentation that supports high quality production.
- Employs DFM, DFA and DFQ.
- Uses advanced engineering modeling and simulation tools, instrumentation and measurement and design of experiments.
- Manages deliverables and timing for self.
- Delivers products that meets Kaleidoscope’s standards and when appropriate, international standards and regulations.
- Checks own work and that of peers, as requested.
- Mentors and collaborates with entry level staff.
- Participates in management of scope, schedule and cost.
- Presents to internal and external audiences.
- Participates in project research and brainstorming teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 3-6+ years of professional experience in engineering and product development
- Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks 3D CAD
- Intermediate knowledge in geometric tolerance analysis
- Proficient in documentation, dimensioning, and specification writing
- Experience designing for varied types of fabrication and production, especially sheet metal, weldments, injection molding
- Experience with automation, material handling or robotics.
- Experience with Solidworks PDM and Agile PLM a plus.
- Proficient using hand tools and building/fabricating large prototypes
- Adequately uses Microsoft Office applications: (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook)
