Hardware Design Engineer developing creative and technically sound engineering solutions for Kaleidoscope. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet project requirements and quality standards.
Responsibilities
Delivers engineering design excellence.
Generates inventive, fresh ideas expressed through sketching that meets functional requirements.
Adjusts and/or incorporates changes in design based on feedback from management and/or client.
Develops design concepts for products, parts and assemblies.
Creates detailed CAD models of parts and assemblies.
Develops product documentation that supports high quality production.
Employs DFM, DFA and DFQ.
Uses advanced engineering modeling and simulation tools, instrumentation and measurement and design of experiments.
Manages deliverables and timing for self.
Delivers products that meets Kaleidoscope’s standards and when appropriate, international standards and regulations.
Checks own work and that of peers, as requested.
Mentors and collaborates with entry level staff.
Participates in management of scope, schedule and cost.
Presents to internal and external audiences.
Participates in project research and brainstorming teams.
Requirements
Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or related field
3-6+ years of professional experience in engineering and product development
Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks 3D CAD
Intermediate knowledge in geometric tolerance analysis
Proficient in documentation, dimensioning, and specification writing
Experience designing for varied types of fabrication and production, especially sheet metal, weldments, injection molding
Experience with automation, material handling or robotics.
Experience with Solidworks PDM and Agile PLM a plus.
Proficient using hand tools and building/fabricating large prototypes
Adequately uses Microsoft Office applications: (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook)
