About the role

  • Database Administrator handling database systems for the Teachers’ Retirement System of Illinois. Supporting software development life cycle and providing database administration tasks primarily on SQL Server.

Responsibilities

  • Perform database administration tasks for a variety of database systems and applications
  • Support the software development life cycle from conception to deployment
  • Create DDL and data change scripts
  • Support data replication processes and reporting environments
  • Improve indexing strategies
  • Modify and test changes to previously developed database artifacts
  • Perform troubleshooting and debugging of TRS database management systems
  • Provide technical guidance to junior staff

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • 3+ years of database administration experience with SQL Server
  • 3+ years of experience creating complex SQL/DDL scripts and performance tuning
  • Experience with database design and implementation
  • Experience with data replication
  • Understanding of OLTP vs OLAP, Object Oriented and Relational database design, STAR, Snowflake, Galaxy Schemas structures
  • ETL/ELT experience
