About the role

  • Senior Researcher in the Greater London Authority providing policy support through research and drafting reports. Collaborating with Labour Assembly Members on housing and environment portfolios at City Hall.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the Policy Team
  • Undertake research and come up with solutions for pressing issues
  • Provide research, policy briefings, advice and support to Members
  • Draft reports to a publication standard on important issues
  • Support Members in holding the Mayor to account through Mayor’s Question Time
  • Update Assembly Members on latest developments in policy areas
  • Meet with Assembly Members to discuss committee papers and questions to the Mayor
  • Undertake research by delving into relevant datasets

Requirements

  • Demonstrable research skills
  • Proven experience of policy briefing in a political/ public sector organisation
  • Demonstrable verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience of writing a range of different styles of document for different audiences
  • Experience of producing information for media work and/or briefings for media interviews
  • Experience of dealing with confidential/sensitive issues and documents
  • Ability to work in a politically complex organisation
  • Knowledge and understanding of media handling techniques
  • Ability to utilise the latest information and communication technologies
