About the role
- Senior Corporate Counsel leading compliance investigations for Smucker. Collaborating with Legal and Employee Relations to improve compliance methods, develop trainings, and manage investigations.
Responsibilities
- Lead investigations on company policy related matters, conducting routine compliance incident reviews and root cause analysis assessments
- Develop, recommend and implement appropriate remedial activities
- Ensure consistent application of best practices and trends
- Work collaboratively with Legal, Labor Relations and Employee Relations to improve compliance investigation methods
- Develop investigation plans, conduct investigations, and provide updates to senior leaders
- Develop materials and briefings for Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors
- Develop and implement remediation plans to address compliance issues
- Monitor regulatory and legal compliance-related developments
- Provide regular updates on investigations and findings to senior leadership
- Manage compliance professionals and provide for their continued engagement and development
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law
- Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional
- 5+ years of legal and compliance investigations experience
- Experience in dealing with compliance issues
- Strong project development, implementation, and management skills
- Ability to maintain perspective, balance, and focus through challenge, uncertainty, and change
- Ability to travel 25% of the time
