About the role

  • Senior Corporate Counsel leading compliance investigations for Smucker. Collaborating with Legal and Employee Relations to improve compliance methods, develop trainings, and manage investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead investigations on company policy related matters, conducting routine compliance incident reviews and root cause analysis assessments
  • Develop, recommend and implement appropriate remedial activities
  • Ensure consistent application of best practices and trends
  • Work collaboratively with Legal, Labor Relations and Employee Relations to improve compliance investigation methods
  • Develop investigation plans, conduct investigations, and provide updates to senior leaders
  • Develop materials and briefings for Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors
  • Develop and implement remediation plans to address compliance issues
  • Monitor regulatory and legal compliance-related developments
  • Provide regular updates on investigations and findings to senior leadership
  • Manage compliance professionals and provide for their continued engagement and development

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law
  • Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional
  • 5+ years of legal and compliance investigations experience
  • Experience in dealing with compliance issues
  • Strong project development, implementation, and management skills
  • Ability to maintain perspective, balance, and focus through challenge, uncertainty, and change
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time
