About the role

  • Litigation Associate focusing on Aboriginal rights and law at JFK Law LLP. Involved in litigation, negotiation, and regulatory matters in the context of Indigenous rights.

Responsibilities

  • The lawyer will practice litigation in Indigenous (Aboriginal) law
  • Participate in the development and implementation of legal and litigation strategies
  • Conduct legal research
  • Draft correspondence, pleadings, and court filings
  • Meet with witnesses and prepare evidence
  • Conduct oral advocacy
  • Prepare for and attend trials

Requirements

  • More than 7 years of litigation experience
  • Experience appearing before the Superior Court of Québec and the Federal Court
  • Strong advocacy and oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, interpretive, research, and drafting skills
  • Proficiency in civil procedure
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively in a team
  • Member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec
  • Bilingual (French/English)
