About the role

  • Systems Engineer supporting federal IT modernization initiatives to migrate on-premises systems to AWS Cloud. Collaborating with teams to design, document and execute migration strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Support the migration of applications from on-premises infrastructure to AWS Cloud.
  • Conduct assessments of existing environments, including dependencies, configurations, performance characteristics, and security constraints.
  • Assist in developing migration strategies, cutover plans, rollback procedures, and system validation steps.
  • Perform codebase assessment, branch management, and version control activities in SVN (Subversion).
  • Collaborate with Security, Infrastructure, DevOps, and Application teams to ensure compliance with cloud governance, security baselines.
  • Troubleshoot issues across compute, storage, networking, and operating system layers in cloud environments.
  • Support the design and documentation of cloud architecture patterns, system configurations, migration artifacts, and operational runbooks.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and technical working sessions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer, Cloud Engineer, or DevOps Engineer supporting enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services for compute, networking, storage, and monitoring.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or executing on-prem to cloud migrations
