Senior HW Development Engineer focusing on embedded systems development at Interroll Group. Collaborating on hardware design and system integration in Linz, Austria.
Responsibilities
Collaborate in the concept development and system design of electronic and electromechanical assemblies/systems/interfaces
Analyze requirements
Design electronic circuits (schematics)
PCB/PCBA layout design
Specify cables and components
Support the specification of HW/SW interfaces and the creation of technical requirements/specifications
Support the development of test concepts for PCB/PCBA validation (durability, EMC/EMI, stress tests, etc.) and for series production (quality assurance)
Collaborate with internal and external development partners
Serve as technical contact for suppliers and production sites
Provide technical support for the assembly, commissioning and testing of prototypes and verification measurements of electronic assemblies and devices
Maintain development processes and documentation in accordance with relevant regulations
Design, develop and validate hardware systems based on microcontrollers, DSPs and communication interfaces
Create schematics and PCB/PCBA layout designs using Altium Designer (experience with other EDA tools is an advantage)
Develop and integrate communication electronics (e.g. UART, SPI, I²C, CAN, LIN, NFC, Ethernet, IO-Link, industrial fieldbuses such as Profinet, EtherCAT, Modbus, wireless)
Perform electronics simulations and analyses (analog, digital, power and signal integrity)
Define and implement hardware start-up, test and debugging procedures
Collaborate with firmware developers to ensure seamless hardware–software integration
Ensure compliance with industry standards (IEC, IPC, UL, EMC/EMI, safety, reliability, and where applicable automotive/industrial standards)
Support prototype assembly, verification and validation through PCB/PCBA manufacturing processes
Contribute to documentation, design reviews and continuous product improvement.
Requirements
Completed degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics or a comparable field
Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in embedded hardware development
Proficient with schematic and PCB/PCBA design (Altium Designer)
Solid knowledge in the development of microcontroller-based systems including power supplies
Experience with circuit simulation (e.g. LTSpice, PSpice, Multisim, MATLAB/Simulink)
Strong understanding of analog and digital circuits (operational amplifiers, ADC/DAC, filters, voltage regulation)
Demonstrable expertise in EMI/EMC design techniques and standards-compliant hardware development
Knowledge of PCBA manufacturing processes (DFM/DFT, bills of materials, assembly instructions, test strategies)
Practical experience debugging with oscilloscope, logic analyzer, multimeter and other lab measurement equipment
Ability to perform failure analysis and optimize hardware for performance, cost and reliability
Very good German and English language skills (at least B2)
