- Senior Software Engineer developing COBOL solutions in a hybrid role for Inmetrics. Responsible for technical quality and improving digital product performance.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement complex solutions across multiple systems.
- Apply architecture, code and public cloud best practices.
- Act as a technical reference, removing obstacles and supporting critical decisions.
- Ensure quality through testing, observability and continuous monitoring.
- Lead end-to-end deliveries and interact with external teams.
- Respond quickly to incidents and act proactively to prevent failures.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in COBOL for development, maintenance and modernization of programs in a mainframe environment.
- Solid knowledge of DB2, including data modeling, advanced SQL queries, performance tuning and stored procedures.
- Experience with CICS for development and support of online transactions in critical systems.
- Familiarity with JCL (Job Control Language) for job execution, automation and production troubleshooting.
- Ability to analyze, fix and optimize legacy programs, ensuring performance and operational continuity.
- Experience integrating mainframe systems with other platforms, including APIs and middleware.
- Familiarity with version control (Endevor, Changeman or Git in modern integrations).
- Knowledge of agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) applied to maintenance and evolution of legacy systems.
- Skill in analyzing technical and business requirements, translating demands into effective mainframe solutions.
- Ability to perform production troubleshooting, identifying and resolving incidents quickly to ensure system stability.
