About the role

  • Senior Multimedia Designer creating print and digital content for leading food media brands in the UK. Responsible for design, branding, and managing editorial production processes.

Responsibilities

  • Design pages for all Easy Cook and Home Cooking Series magazine editions and other Food Group magazines when required
  • Be responsible for sending all Easy Cook and Home Cooking Series pages to repro and other titles when required
  • Be responsible for keeping all Easy Cook and Home Cooking Series editions up to date in in-house production software
  • Use the Dialogue system to check the final print-ready PDFs in accordance with best practice procedures
  • Make sure that all Easy Cook and Home Cooking Series editions has been signed off for press. (Dialogue training will be given.)
  • Meet the agreed editorial production schedules, and will liaise with Immediate Media Co’s production department to make efficient use of in-house repro operations.
  • Liaising with the repro team and updating images returned from them
  • Working with the Good Food and olive Art Directors to create website graphics, email templates, social media graphics, digital edition templates, brand campaigns, video and audio idents when required
  • Working with the brand Art, Editorial and Marketing colleagues to create print assets, including magazine layouts, brand adverts, point-of-sale merchandising material, artwork for live events, magazine paper wraps/packaging, brand-related products (inc posters, calendars, supplements, magazines etc), and campaign logos
  • Briefing and art directing photo and video shoots when required
  • Filming and producing behind the scenes video content when necessary
  • Developing graphic identities for key campaigns that help us to meet business objectives
  • Working with the Picture editor to source appropriate imagery for publication on all brand channels, in full compliance with rights agreements
  • Ensuring all graphic output reflects brand values and design guidelines, both in print and online
  • Liaising with brand stakeholders to ensure all design projects are thoroughly briefed, with clearly defined objectives
  • Processing and editing images for publication in print, on website and other platforms as required
  • Creating templates that colleagues can use to easily create consistent, brand-appropriate graphics
  • Devising effective graphic templates for our social media when required
  • Working with our Marketing and Editorial teams on campaigns that drive audience engagement across all platforms e.g. print, online, social, audio
  • Contributing to delivery of Subscriber Club promotions, interpreting brand teams’ briefs and liaising with our Print & Digital Subscriptions and Marketing teams
  • Responsible for raising purchase orders and managing commission payments accurately and in line with agreed terms.

Requirements

  • The job holder must have at least 7 years’ experience within a magazines environment
  • A demonstrable interest in the editorial content of the brand
  • A portfolio of design work that demonstrates proficiency in print and digital design
  • Fully competent in Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to drive deadlines with both internal and external partners
  • Highly organised with good time management skills and the ability to prioritise workload to meet tight deadlines
