About the role

  • ECAD Support Engineer improving ICEYE's ECAD ecosystem by developing libraries and templates. Collaborating with cross-functional teams for efficient design processes in PCB and PCBA manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the continuous improvement and reliability of ICEYE’s ECAD ecosystem by developing robust component libraries, scalable design templates, and seamless support across the full PCB and PCBA manufacturing flow.
  • Standardize and automate design processes while integrating ECAD with PLM systems, providing expert technical guidance from concept through production release.
  • Collaborate across electronics, RF, mechanical, and supply chain teams to ensure hardware designs are precise, efficient, and consistently production-ready.

Requirements

  • Outcomes
  • A robust, scalable ECAD library structure is maintained and continuously improved, fully aligned with IPC and internal standards.
  • High data integrity is ensured across Altium 365, with consistent naming conventions, controlled versioning, and high-quality documentation.
  • Reliable and efficient ECAD–PLM synchronization workflows are established, enabling smooth part creation, change management, and release processes.
  • Standardized ECAD templates, design rules, manufacturing outputs, and documented processes are in place to support consistent and efficient design execution.
  • Electronics and RF engineers are effectively supported, resulting in fewer ECAD-related bottlenecks and improved design productivity.
  • ECAD priorities are clearly coordinated, with internal and external library development managed efficiently, including outsourced component generation during peak demand.
  • Electronic schematics and component models are reviewed to ensure practical, manufacturable, and design-intent-aligned ECAD implementations.
  • DFM and DFA considerations are systematically integrated into design workflows, improving manufacturability and assembly efficiency.
  • Accurate and complete PCB/PCBA fabrication and assembly documentation is consistently delivered to manufacturing partners.
  • High-quality schematic symbols, footprints, 3D models, and simulation data are created and maintained to ensure reliable design outputs.
  • Component lifecycle is proactively managed, with obsolescence tracked and timely replacements coordinated with the supply chain.
  • Repetitive ECAD operations are automated, improving efficiency, reducing manual errors, and accelerating turnaround times.
  • Hardware verification and basic hands-on board support activities are performed when needed to ensure design readiness and testing continuity.
  • Effective collaboration across a global engineering environment drives knowledge sharing, process improvement, and strong alignment with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Role-specific Competences
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as ECAD Librarian, ECAD Engineer, or PCB Manufacturing Support Engineer.
  • Solid practical knowledge of Altium Designer and Altium 365, especially from the library and data management perspective.
  • Understanding of PCB and PCBA manufacturing processes, DFM, and quality workflows.
  • Good understanding of general electronics design principles, ability to interpret schematics and component functions.
  • Familiarity with IPC, IEEE, JEDEC footprint and symbol creation standards.
  • Good organizational and documentation skills, attention to detail, and structured work style.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a cross-functional engineering environment.
  • Ability to organize workload, set priorities, and oversee both internal and outsourced ECAD library activities.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Nice to have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or similar technical field.
  • Experience with PLM systems and ECAD-PLM data synchronization (e.g., Teamcenter, Arena, Windchill, or similar).
  • Basic scripting or programming (Python) for ECAD automation.
  • Experience with version control tools (Git, SVN).
  • Experience supporting or designing electrical harnesses in Altium, including harness documentation and integration into the ECAD workflow.
  • Hands-on electronics lab experience (soldering, inspection, rework, cable preparation).
  • Familiarity with space or high-reliability hardware standards.
  • Key CompetencesIn addition to the requirements above, we evaluate candidates on these key qualities throughout the hiring process:
  • **Intellectual Firepower:** Rapidly comprehends, structures and synthesizes complex information, draws accurate conclusions, and communicates them with clarity.
  • **Passion & Work Ethic:** Brings sustained motivation, resilience, and high personal standards to every challenge.
