About the role

  • Risk Management Advisor managing operational risks in collective savings and retirement. Engaging in process improvements and risk assessments in a financial services environment.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and assess operational risks in the Collective Savings and Retirement area.
  • Design effective controls to manage these risks.
  • Advise management on operational risk management.
  • Communicate the results of the attestation process to management and follow up on incidents and action plans.
  • Collaborate with teams to develop creative solutions that address the root causes of operational incidents and control deficiencies.
  • Update business processes and their documentation to reflect organizational and systems changes.
  • Optimize documentation to achieve efficiency gains in the quarterly attestation process.
  • Align internal documentation with the controls tested for audit and the NCMC 3416 report.
  • Act as an expert on transformation projects for the collective and corporate lines (REBOOT, group benefits platform, Fund Admin, IFRS 17).
  • Through these projects, communicate accounting and risk management requirements and identify opportunities to transform team processes.
  • Ensure sound risk management both internally and with external vendors.
  • Share your accounting and risk management expertise with the team through coaching.
  • Support the team in documenting processes and knowledge.
  • Execute assignments related to data governance and the protection of personal information.
  • Improve processes to deliver efficiency and quality gains, particularly in account reconciliation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Finance
  • 5 years of experience in risk management or accounting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team
  • Recognized for problem-solving, communication, influencing skills, and creativity
  • Demonstrates interest in continuous improvement and aptitude for task automation
  • Knowledge of Power Query is an asset
  • Intermediate level of English required: the role involves communicating and presenting to operational teams across different departments for up to 25% of the tasks. The ability to read and understand documentation in English will account for approximately 50% of the work.
