Responsibilities

• Influencing underwriting practices and contributing to large-scale strategic initiatives
• Reviewing complex files for underwriting quality and risk assessment
• Conducting quality controls and participating in audit processes
• Providing expert assessments for contestable, post-issue or litigation-related cases
• Evaluating current underwriting rules and recommending updates
• Collaborating with various partners to ensure alignment and consistency of rules
• Contributing to underwriting automation and modernization practices
• Acting as a resource for underwriters and providing training and support.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in individual underwriting
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex medical and financial information
• Ability to clearly explain technical concepts to colleagues with varying levels of expertise
• Interest in innovative approaches, the evolution of underwriting methodologies and technological solutions
• The FALU and FLMI designations are assets
• Experience working with reinsurers in complex or non-standard financial scenarios (asset)
• Experience working with actuarial, data science or technology teams to develop rules or improve systems (asset)
• Intermediate level of English required for communication with internal partners.
