Responsibilities
Managing the Reactor Plant Fluid Systems section of newly-created Department E50
Providing engineering support to the fleet, NAVSEA, TYCOM, NNL/Bettis, BPMI, and the shipyards that support Nimitz and Ford Class carriers
Participating in projects related to propulsion and reactor engineering planning
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design
Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
Experience managing mechanical or chemical engineers and designers executing complex projects in reactor plants
Experience with the operation, design, testing, and troubleshooting of fluid systems - liquids, gases, and slurries
Knowledge of the design principles, operation, and maintenance of Nimitz Class carrier reactor plants
Ability and willingness to support emergent work to sustain the fleet in times of maintenance and in emergencies
Experience with ships in RCOH, PIAs, DPIAs, SRAs, WOOs, and at sea
Knowledge of Ford Class carrier reactor plants is desirable
Knowledge of and experience with MIL-Standards, GRPORS, piping, fittings, heat exchangers, fluid flow, heat transfer, welding, pumps, valves, and other components
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated experience applying the Naval Reactors Program Principles
History of performing well while largely self-directed
