Responsibilities
Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks.
Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
Responsible for designing and managing the Regulating Valve Controllers and Gate Valve Actuator Controllers on Ford-class ships as well as providing assistance with the RC Door Actuators and Pressurizer Heater system.
Expected to become the subject matter expert and understand both the components and the systems associated with their equipment.
Regularly communicates with the Navy, Department Leads, Supply Chain, Vendors, NNL, Engineers/Designers across various Departments, Waterfront, and NAVSEA via email, phone, and in person meetings.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 0 year of relevant professional experience
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Experience supporting Navy/DoD programs, preferably Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, that includes interfacing with NAVSEA and its prime contractors, equipment suppliers, and shipyard trades and engineering
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience with end-user support and troubleshooting
Experience working with suppliers on product development and improvement
