Cabling Technician focused on installation and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems for DoD customers. Position involves adherence to various telecommunications standards in Virginia Beach, VA.
Responsibilities
Install and terminate copper and fiber cabling in compliance with NGEN and Department of the Navy standards
Route, dress, and secure cabling throughout Navy shore facilities
Interpret cabling diagrams and follow instructions from senior technicians and project leads
Perform basic cable verification testing and assist with certification testing
Install racks, patch panels, cable management systems, grounding, and related hardware
Update NGEN ticketing systems and accurately document completed work
Follow Navy access control procedures, physical security guidelines, and PPE requirements
Support site surveys and contribute to as built documentation
Maintain strict adherence to BICSI, TIA, NEC, DISA, and applicable telecommunications standards
Requirements
2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.
Must have an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI
1–3 years of experience in structured cabling installation
Ability to read basic drawings and use standard cabling tools
