About the role

  • Analytical Engineer Optimization at HF Sinclair improving refinery processes with technology applications. Leading strategies for deep learning and optimization in Dallas, TX.

Responsibilities

  • Company subject matter expert in for deep learning process control technology.
  • Creates policies and processes to support the company’s enablement of these tools.
  • Leads and facilitates refinery optimization opportunities ideation sessions with an operating area and/or site for potential Deep Learning Process Control (DLPC) applications.
  • Leads and facilitates review of value of optimization opportunities through operational and economic data analysis.
  • Develops and sustains applicable OEMS practices and standards.
  • Leads the configuration and deployment of applications for identified optimization opportunities.
  • Owns and leads the training program for DLPC configuration and implementation.
  • Develops and communicates performance metrics associated with DLPC programs.
  • Develops capability to maintain/retrain as needed existing DLPC and online inferential models within fleet.
  • Leads the collaboration with technology partners to utilize their technology to capture beyond DLPC and inferential opportunities.
  • Collaborate with our Planning and Economics Departments to identify further optimization opportunities.

Requirements

  • 8+ years’ experience in a technical role within a refinery with ability to understand oil flows and process unit technology.
  • 2+ years’ experience in Process Control or 2+ years’ experience economics and planning
  • Ability to foster strategic partnerships with business partners
  • Ability to cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making.
  • Solid critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills, consensus building, leadership capabilities, and drive for results
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have demonstrated success in managing projects.
  • Strong ability to influence at all leadership levels
  • Self-starter with the drive and ability to achieve planned objectives.
  • Strong ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment as a team player
  • Strong communication and change leadership
  • Coaching, mentoring, career planning, and skills development
  • Good knowledge and understanding of IT services & processes, and IT frameworks that help guide and enhance the delivery of services to the business
  • Experience managing complex environments and integrated 3rd party services, not limited to, infra-managed services, application-managed services, service desk operations, and network operations
  • Ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations
  • Must fluently and clearly speak, read, and write in English
