Credit Risk Analyst managing credit exposure associated with merchant onboarding and portfolio monitoring at Helcim. Balancing rigorous execution with continuous process improvement in a hybrid environment.
Responsibilities
Perform end-to-end credit analysis for new and existing merchants by reviewing financial statements, credit reports, and corporate registrations.
Execute routine batch reviews and rolling underwriting to actively monitor portfolio trends and mitigate exposure risks.
Communicate directly with business owners to gather documentation, clarify financial positions, and explain credit decisions.
Collaborate with the Trust & Safety team on daily risk operations to manage complex cases.
Identify workflow bottlenecks and iterate on our credit guidelines to ensure adjudication remains efficient and scalable.
Partner with Data, Product, and Engineering teams to provide feedback that drives improvements in our risk tools and decisioning systems.
Requirements
2+ years of experience in commercial credit analysis, underwriting, or portfolio management.
Strong proficiency in analyzing financial statements and understanding business models across various industries.
Solid foundation in commercial credit principles with a track record of making data-backed decisions.
Technical aptitude with a familiarity or willingness to learn SQL to independently query data and build reports for analysis.
Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to distill complex financial concepts into simple explanations.
High degree of organization and detail to manage batch reviews and deadlines accurately.
Bonus points if you have: Knowledge or experience in the payments industry. We believe that if you have a strong background in credit, we can teach you the rest! A relevant certification such as CFA or FRM (or are actively pursuing one).
