About the role

  • Credit Risk Analyst managing credit exposure associated with merchant onboarding and portfolio monitoring at Helcim. Balancing rigorous execution with continuous process improvement in a hybrid environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform end-to-end credit analysis for new and existing merchants by reviewing financial statements, credit reports, and corporate registrations.
  • Execute routine batch reviews and rolling underwriting to actively monitor portfolio trends and mitigate exposure risks.
  • Communicate directly with business owners to gather documentation, clarify financial positions, and explain credit decisions.
  • Collaborate with the Trust & Safety team on daily risk operations to manage complex cases.
  • Identify workflow bottlenecks and iterate on our credit guidelines to ensure adjudication remains efficient and scalable.
  • Partner with Data, Product, and Engineering teams to provide feedback that drives improvements in our risk tools and decisioning systems.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in commercial credit analysis, underwriting, or portfolio management.
  • Strong proficiency in analyzing financial statements and understanding business models across various industries.
  • Solid foundation in commercial credit principles with a track record of making data-backed decisions.
  • Technical aptitude with a familiarity or willingness to learn SQL to independently query data and build reports for analysis.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to distill complex financial concepts into simple explanations.
  • High degree of organization and detail to manage batch reviews and deadlines accurately.
  • Bonus points if you have: Knowledge or experience in the payments industry. We believe that if you have a strong background in credit, we can teach you the rest! A relevant certification such as CFA or FRM (or are actively pursuing one).
