About the role

• Product design intern at HEIMPLANET working on outdoor product development from concept to prototype. Collaborating in design, material, and function at a small team ready to impact.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the entire product development process: actively support us from the initial idea/sketch and concept phases through to preparation for serial production.
• Concept and design work: develop ideas, compare variants, and prepare design directions.
• Graphic design tasks: create layouts, presentations, product graphics/branding elements, and supporting visuals.
• Material and component research: research suitable fabrics and coatings, evaluate samples, and help develop sustainable options.
• Color & Trim development: dive into color palettes, combinations and detailing, and translate these into coherent proposals.
• Creation of functional prototypes: produce functional samples to test construction, handling and details.

Requirements

• You are enrolled in a Product Design program or a comparable degree and are seeking a 6-month mandatory internship.
• Interest in materials, manufacturing and details (e.g., fabrics, coatings, trims), including enthusiasm for research, sampling and comparisons.
• Basic knowledge of the Adobe suite (especially InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) for creating concepts, graphics and documentation.
• Ideally, you have initial experience with 3D tools (e.g., Rhino) and a basic understanding of forms, proportions and construction.
• Hands-on mentality.
• Structured, reliable and independent working style.
• You bring enthusiasm for outdoor products and everyday use.
