About the role

  • Retail Planner responsible for developing strategic plans to ensure optimal product availability at apparel manufacturer. Collaborating with various teams to maximize sales and minimize excess inventory.

Responsibilities

  • Develop pre-season sales, gross margin, and inventory plans that align with product strategies.
  • Collaborate with buyers, merchandisers, sales, and distribution teams to monitor and react to business needs.
  • Forecast future sales and inventory needs based on historical data, current trends, and market conditions.
  • Lead the analysis of sales data, inventory levels, and market trends to develop and execute replenishment strategies in collaboration with the retailer’s inventory planner.
  • Participate in seasonal planning meetings, aligning product distribution plans with broader marketing and sales initiatives to ensure cohesive execution.
  • Regularly present in-depth sales and inventory data analyses to retail partners in collaboration with sales, ensuring that their needs are met and addressing any issues related to product availability with solutions.
  • Monitor sales performance against plans, identifying underperforming areas and support the development of strategic marketing initiatives to enhance product performance.
  • Collaborate with sales, design, production, marketing, and finance teams to ensure that retail planning strategies are aligned with overall business objectives and effectively executed.
  • Support initial sell-in volumes for new product launches, identifying key customers and doors, with a focus on ensuring that monthly updates are accurate and strategically aligned with market demands.
  • Manage the OTB budget to ensure balanced inventory levels.
  • Present detailed weekly, monthly, and seasonal reports on key performance indicators (KPIs), including sales, margin, inventory levels, and turn rates, providing actionable insights to senior management for strategic decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years relevant work experience; 4+ years of equivalent work experience can be substituted for Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with major retail partners, particularly in a planning capacity
  • Familiarity with retail planning software
  • Ability to analyze and interpret sales data, market trends, and performance metrics to make informed decisions
  • Proficiency in predicting future sales and inventory needs based on historical data, market trends and conditions.
  • Ensuring accuracy in inventory management and sales planning.
  • Familiarity with retail planning software and tools.
  • Efficiently managing multiple tasks and projects to meet deadlines.
