About the role
- Senior Associate contributing to forensic accounting and litigation support in Family Litigation Department, focusing on high-net-worth clients and marital dissolution processes.
Responsibilities
- Analyze financial records to ensure accurate transaction recording, account reconciliation, and asset assessments
- Identify and manage discrepancies in settlements or support obligations
- Trace separate property assets
- Analyze gross cash flow available for child and spousal support and the marital standard of living
- Conduct business valuations
- Apportion real estate and equity compensation (such as stock options, restricted stock units, carried interest, etc.)
- Prepare various types of declarations for court proceedings
- Account for transactions occurring post-separation and analyze their impact on the community estate
- Prepare deposition questions for financial and party witnesses and assist counsel during the deposition
- Assist partners in preparation for settlement conferences
- Prepare work papers and exhibits for court hearings
- Opportunity to travel to court with partners on cases to gain experience and learn about serving as potential testifying expert witnesses
- Attend and participate in settlement conferences, assisting clients in resolving their dissolution cases
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or other business-related fields
- CPA Designation
- Licensed California Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with at least two to three years of recent audit, accounting, or tax experience at a top-100 public accounting firm
- Must possess exceptional abilities in both written and oral communication
- Excellent computer skills are required in Microsoft Excel, Word, and related applications
