About the role

  • IT Support and Digital Skills Assessor/Trainer role focuses on developing digital talent across Scotland. Assessing learners against SQA standards while managing individual caseloads in a hybrid setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assess learners in the workplace against recognised SQA standards for: Digital Applications SCQF 6, IT Support SCQF 6 & 8.
  • Manage own caseload of learners and employers across Scotland.
  • Support and mentor learners to build their technical skills and competencies.
  • Set individual targets aligned with learner capability and qualification timelines.
  • Monitor progress, identify challenges, and support learners to achieve their qualifications.
  • Maintain accurate candidate records in line with SQA and SDS requirements.
  • Use e-portfolio system to track learner progress and carry out remote assessments.
  • Attend standardisation meetings, maintain CPD, and follow centre policies and procedures.
  • Carry out regular contact and on-site visits with learners and employers.
  • Travel to customer premises as required.

Requirements

  • Occupational experience in Digital Skills and the use of software packages.
  • Experience working in IT support roles.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a busy, target-driven workload.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • A recognised Assessor Award (e.g., L&D9DI) — but not essential, as full training is provided.
