About the role

  • Data Administrator role managing T-SQL scripts and database architecture for client companies. Developing, monitoring, and tuning database systems to improve performance.

Responsibilities

  • Create T-SQL scripts for report extraction and routine automation. Knowledge of relational modeling and extract, transform and load (ETL) processes;
  • Support developers with access, user management, diagrams, programmable objects and bulk data manipulation for testing and acceptance;
  • Define tables, indexes, views, constraints, triggers, stored procedures, storage parameters or tablespaces and other database-specific constructs required to store, retrieve and delete persistent objects;
  • Develop and maintain the corporate data model (CDM), data integration architecture, data taxonomy, and data and metadata standards;
  • Define and maintain Golden Records, hierarchies, master and reference data; understand, develop and maintain metadata;
  • Design, implement and maintain solutions that meet the company’s data needs. Includes data-focused activities within the system development lifecycle, such as data modeling, data requirements analysis and design, deployment and database maintenance;
  • Monitor and tune database performance: perform proactive (preventive) and reactive (post-incident) monitoring. This involves managing user response time performance from a variety of root causes (SQL coding issues, problematic commands, poor database design, missing proper indexes, outdated statistics used by the query optimizer, etc.);
  • Administration and management of local and remote databases;
  • Automate routines using Shell Script;
  • Configure environments to optimize performance;
  • Build database architectures for high availability (clustering) based on technology best practices;
  • Build architectures for bulk data transfer;
  • Define and execute data loading and extraction routines;
  • Develop and maintain procedures for querying, capturing, updating and storing data;

Requirements

  • Experience in:
  • Data manipulation (DML) and definition (DDL) activities: defining tables, indexes, views, constraints, triggers, stored procedures, storage parameters or tablespaces and other database-specific constructs required to store, retrieve and delete persistent objects;
  • Monitoring and tuning database performance: proactive (preventive) and reactive (post-incident) monitoring. Involves managing user response time performance resulting from various root causes (SQL coding issues, problematic commands, poor database design, missing proper indexes, outdated statistics used by the query optimizer, etc.);
  • Configuration, implementation, monitoring, tuning and data auditing;
  • Troubleshooting and incident resolution, including root cause analysis for database-related issues.
  • Systems analysis;
  • Use of CA ERWin 7.x or higher.
  • Knowledge of:
  • Agile project management methodology (SCRUM);
  • Data modeling for relational databases;
  • Systems development;
  • Certification:
  • MCDBA (Microsoft Certified Database Administrator);
  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in progress or completed in Information Technology.
