About the role

  • ASL Interpreter providing onsite interpretation for deaf/hard of hearing individuals across various settings. Offering flexibility with part-time and contract work arrangements in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite, unclassified ASL/English receptive and expressive simultaneous interpretation in various settings
  • Convey thought, intent, and spirit of the speaker to the deaf/hard of hearing person
  • Maintain confidentiality of information in interpreting situations
  • Communicate effectively through signing, orally, and in writing
  • Keep detailed and accurate records

Requirements

  • Possess advanced, accurate voicing skills for ASL to spoken English and vice versa
  • Familiar with terminology and provisions of the American Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Skills in a broad range of general interpreting assignments
  • General knowledge of specialized vocabulary including medical terminology, supply chain management, and business jargon
  • Certification: National Interpreter Certification (NIC), Certificate of Interpretation (CI), or Certificate of Transliteration (CT)
