About the role

• Legal Counsel at Genetec managing international legal contracts and supporting various departments in a fast-paced setting. Collaborating with highly experienced legal professionals and external counsel.

Responsibilities

• Manage a variety of contracts, including commercial agreements, leases, and vendor/supplier contracts
• Advise and support the Human Resources team on employment contracts, internal policies, and dispute resolution
• Coordinate litigation and other dispute matters with external legal counsel
• Ensure Genetec and its subsidiaries comply with legal and regulatory requirements in Canada and internationally
• Provide practical, business-oriented legal advice to all departments

Requirements

• Member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec or another Canadian law society, and residing in the Greater Montreal area
• Minimum of 5 years' experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts
• Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills, combining legal judgment, creativity, and business acumen to deliver effective, pragmatic solutions
• Highly collaborative professional who thrives in multidisciplinary environments and builds strong relationships with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders across global teams, including across multiple time zones
• Ability to manage multiple priority matters simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail
• Proactive approach, demonstrating initiative, strong ownership, and a commitment to supporting business objectives
• Knowledge of international legal frameworks and corporate governance practices
• Intellectual curiosity and strong adaptability, with a keen interest in exploring new areas of law and a willingness to actively contribute to the success of the legal team
• Fluency in French and English, both written and spoken (this role requires interactions with international colleagues and clients)
