About the role

  • Lead Materials Application Engineer focused on aerospace materials development and processes at GE Aerospace. Collaborating with teams and enhancing materials technologies for innovative aerospace applications.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptual, or theoretical activities relating to the development, improvement, and usage of materials, coatings, and processes undertaken to build, apply, or shape the materials.
  • Developing conceptual knowledge of professional discipline.
  • May include support roles with specialized expertise or technical knowledge in broad area.
  • Applies general knowledge of business developed through education or experience.
  • Understands how work of own team contributes to the area.
  • Resolves issues using established procedures.
  • Consults supervisor or more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
  • Collaborates with others to solve issues.
  • For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE Aerospace.
  • Exchanges technical information asks questions and checks for understanding.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical & Materials Science Engineering
  • At least 5 years of experience
  • Good level of understanding on metallic materials, their physical and mechanical properties and processing.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and orally in English.
  • Proven self-starter and independent worker who can work with cross-functional teams
  • Fast in action but with detailed technical review and good documentation
  • Project Management Skills related to material technologies
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, eager to learn continuously.
  • Master of Science and/or PhD in Materials Science Engineering is preferred
  • Awareness and/or experience in aerospace industry is preferred.
  • Experience on a Titanium alloys is a plus.
  • Experience on forging processes.
  • Titanium forging process knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to coordinate several tasks/projects simultaneously, strategically prioritize work.
  • A self-starter with an eye on problem solving and driving solutions
  • Awareness and knowledge of manufacturing processes such as thermal spray, shot peen, heat treatment etc. and their potential effects on material.
