Responsibilities
Lead the development and enhancement of models and scripts that support critical risk functions, including price and volumetric exposure analysis, portfolio management, and storage valuation
Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners to identify and resolve process inefficiencies, contributing to the company’s enterprise risk management strategy
Interpret complex datasets, create advanced visualizations, and deliver actionable insights that inform Gas South’s risk posture and mitigation strategies
Synthesize natural gas market intelligence to support contract rate design, asset evaluation, weather risk management, and load forecasting
Leverage market intelligence to identify arbitrage opportunities and develop data-driven trading strategies to capture and lock in value for the organization
Ensure data integrity, mentor junior analysts, and guide the evolution of Gas South’s data strategy
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Analytics, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and programming languages including SQL, Python, DAX, PowerQuery, Java, and/or VB. Proficient in Git and version control best practices.
Strong experience with ETL processes, database administration and development (e.g., Access, Azure, Oracle, MySQL), and designing scalable data pipelines. Skilled in web scraping, data cleaning, and aggregation.
Strong ability to present information using data visualization techniques to inform business decisions and strategy.
Expertise in building forecasting models and machine learning algorithms. Strong data visualization skills to support strategic decision-making.
Deep understanding of the wholesale gas market, storage and asset optimization, pipeline and utility tariff structures, and the regulatory landscape in the energy sector.
