About the role

  • Data Engineer building and enhancing a modern Data Lake architecture on AWS for game analytics and event tracking. Collaborating with multiple teams for data analysis and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • You will build and continuously develop our modern Data Lake architecture on AWS (S3, Glue, Athena, Iceberg).
  • You will design and implement scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Apache Airflow, dbt and Apache Spark to process large volumes of data — from real-time events to structured storage following a medallion architecture.
  • You will design and implement a comprehensive game analytics and event-tracking system for our gaming platform (Spawn Engine, G-RGS) to capture player behavior, game performance and business KPIs in real time.
  • You will implement extensive data quality checks with dbt tests and Great Expectations, as well as monitoring solutions to ensure data quality and availability.
  • You will work closely with our teams (backend, frontend, statistics, math, finance) to provide high-performance data analyses and reports.
  • You will optimize queries and data storage for cost-efficient, high-performance analytics workloads and automate data processing with Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

Requirements

  • You have a degree in computer science or an equivalent qualification.
  • You have at least 3–4 years of professional experience in data engineering or a related field.
  • You have excellent skills in Python (pandas, pyarrow, boto3).
  • You bring solid experience with cloud platforms (ideally AWS) and modern data lake technologies.
  • You have worked with message queues (RabbitMQ) and workflow orchestration (Airflow or similar tools).
  • You are familiar with columnar file formats (Parquet) and modern table formats (Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake).
  • Ideally, you have experience with dbt, Spark or comparable data transformation tools and with visualization tools like Tableau or Metabase.
  • You have a good understanding of data modeling, partitioning strategies and performance optimization.
  • You are open to AI technologies and are willing to take responsibility for our internal AI systems and their further development.
  • Ideally, you have experience in the gaming industry and understand the specifics of gaming data and metrics.
  • You are strong in communication and empathetic when interacting with different personalities.
  • You have a high degree of self-organization and self-reflection for working within a hybrid, collaborative work model.
  • You have a can-do mentality and are enthusiastic about driving things forward.
  • You are characterized by an independent working style and define quality as a success factor.
  • You write and speak very good German (C1) and good English.

Benefits

  • Lived company values in a collaborative working environment.
  • Sustainable company growth.
  • Hybrid work model: maximum flexibility regarding working hours and workplace.
  • Well-equipped office in Berlin-Mitte as a centrally located meeting place.
  • A warm welcome through an intensive, structured onboarding.
  • Learning & Development through the GAMOcademy.
