About the role

  • Senior Data Engineer driving data intelligence requirements and scalable data solutions for a global consulting firm. Collaborating across functions to enhance Microsoft architecture and analytics capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Your work includes the conception, implementation and review of data intelligence requirements.
  • You keep an eye on the entire Microsoft architecture for our customers, from the enterprise platform to analysis and reporting.
  • You not only understand but you can also coach data modeling, indexing, partitioning, and query optimization, you provide technical leadership, mentoring, and best practices for data engineers and development teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and developers, to provide scalable data solutions.
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools, technologies, and methodologies for continuous improvement in data engineering.
  • You support our data-driven community of over 100 employees in the ongoing development of data intelligence & analytics topics.

Requirements

  • You are a highly skilled Data Engineer with deep expertise in Microsoft technologies and able to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise level data solutions end-to-end.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, with a focus on Microsoft technologies.
  • Deep expertise in Azure Data Platform (Fabric, Synapse, Data Factory, Databricks, ADLS, Purview).
  • Strong experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL (CosmosDB, MongoDB, Cassandra).
  • Expertise in ETL/ELT tools and processes, including Azure Data Factory, SSIS, Glue, dbt.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, Scala, PowerShell.
  • Hands-on experience with big data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Power BI for data visualization and analytics (PL-300 certification would be a plus).
  • Experience with DevOps and CI/CD practices for data engineering workflows.
  • Advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in English; German language skills would be a plus (minimum B1 level).
  • You enjoy traveling occasionally.
