About the role
- Automated QA Engineer developing and maintaining automated testing suites for WordPress-based products. Collaborating closely with developers and product managers to ensure software quality and performance.
Responsibilities
- Design, write, and maintain end-to-end (E2E) test scripts using Playwright (TypeScript/JavaScript).
- Focus specifically on the quirks and complexities of WordPress environments, including plugin compatibility, theme updates, and custom block validation.
- Integrate Playwright tests into CI/CD pipelines to ensure checks run on every pull request.
- Perform manual checks when automation isn’t feasible or efficient.
- Design, execute, and maintain API tests using Postman to validate backend services, integrations, and data flows supporting WordPress features.
- Write clear, reproducible bug reports.
- Regularly refactor tests to reduce flakiness.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in automated QA, with at least 1 year specifically using Playwright
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in manual web testing, including test case design and execution using TestRail, cross-browser and cross-device testing with BrowserStack, API testing with Postman, and functional, regression, and exploratory testing of web applications.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Strong WordPress knowledge; understanding the WP ecosystem (themes, plugins, hooks, database structure and the block editor/Gutenberg).
- Solid understanding of Git (branching, pull requests, resolving conflicts).
