About the role

  • Transforming social media approaches for top music brands while collaborating with editorial teams. Engaging audiences through content creation and community building across various platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Editor in Chief (Video & Social Media, Music), you'll transform our brands' approach to social media.
  • Working with the Content Director, editorial teams of our magazines and websites, and plugged in to our Social Media team to develop and deliver social media strategies, growing and engaging audiences for our world-leading music brands.
  • Shoot, edit, and deliver social-first content across a variety of platforms, ensuring it meets brand guidelines and delivers commercial opportunities.
  • Maximise the potential of every story using social media, exploring new storytelling formats, and shooting, editing, and distributing video.
  • Build communities using social media, creating and editing video, engaging posts, and changing the relationship with the audience to be more organic and responsive.
  • Collaborate with print and online teams to produce top-quality written, graphic, and video content for multiple brands to be distributed across social media channels.
  • Manage YouTube and all social channels, working with the Social media team to establish and instil best practice and ensuring all content produced has a social media angle.
  • Create YouTube thumbnails, Instagram carousel posts, engagement graphics, vertical video edits, write punchy copy for descriptions, and create video titles, talking to the audience in a recognizable language.

Requirements

  • A proven track record and a resume packed with examples of your experience making social media content and growing an audience.
  • Ability to edit and shoot video with style and flair and a sense of storytelling.
  • Experience in camera operation, with an eye for good set design and composition, and the ability to coach and direct on-screen talent.
  • Previous writing, scripting and editing experience. The ability to write engaging copy and compelling headlines.
  • An insightful understanding of the world of music and, in particular, music-making. Proficient music-making experience – an understanding of gear terminology, musical technique and history, and a wide-ranging taste in music is vital to connect with the communities around our brands.
  • As a music-fan and musician, you'll have an innate understanding of the differences in the music tribes which we majorly feature (modern rock, alternative, progressive and classic rock) and understanding of artists, instruments and content that will crossover.
  • A love of content and storytelling and the ability to switch gears, from brand to brand and content types, publishing a mix of entertainment, news, gear and technique content.
  • Proven commercial awareness and experience.
