About the role

  • Senior UX Researcher at Freetrade leading qualitative and mixed-method research projects. Collaborating with product, design, and marketing to enhance customer experience and product strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end qualitative and mixed-method research projects, including interviews, moderated sessions, concept testing and usability studies
  • Shape discovery work with Product and Design, helping teams define the right questions and approach
  • Conduct light quantitative work that supports qualitative findings, such as simple evaluative surveys
  • Synthesise behavioural insights into clear, actionable recommendations that influence product direction
  • Develop and maintain research standards, frameworks and ways of working for the wider team
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Marketing and Data to ensure research is well-scoped and aligned with business goals
  • Champion a customer-centric culture across the organisation, ensuring the customer perspective is embedded throughout the product lifecycle
  • Manage research operations, including planning, recruitment and tooling, to ensure efficient and high-quality delivery
  • Communicate insights effectively to a range of stakeholders, tailoring depth and format to support fast, confident decision-making

Requirements

  • Significant experience in UX Research (+5 years), ideally across consumer-facing digital products
  • Deep expertise in qualitative methods, with strong synthesis and storytelling skills
  • Experience with mixed-method approaches, including light surveys to complement qualitative work
  • Experience working in fast-paced, iterative environments (ideally in financial services or similar)
  • Experience with tools such as Dovetail, UserTesting or similar
  • Experience mentoring or guiding peers in research practices
  • A pragmatic, outcome-focused mindset, able to choose the right level of depth for the question and timeline
  • Experience shaping or evolving a research practice, including methods, standards and tooling
  • Confidence partnering closely with senior leadership, product managers and designers to influence discovery, strategy and prioritisation
  • Strong communication skills, able to make complex insights easy to understand and act upon
  • Curiosity and empathy: you’re motivated by understanding how people think, feel and behave
  • Formal education in human–computer interaction, psychology, behavioural science, design or a related field is beneficial, but not required.
  • Equivalent professional experience in UX Research is fully acceptable.
