About the role

  • Purchaser at Fraunhofer Institute in Hamburg responsible for procurement and supply chain compliance. Collaborating with scientific departments for efficient procurement processes.

Responsibilities

  • You will be part of our nine-person administration team and, together with a colleague, be responsible for institute procurement at the Hamburg‑Bergedorf site.
  • In this versatile role you will ensure that goods and services are procured cost-effectively, in a timely manner and in compliance with procurement law — based on the applicable public procurement and budgetary regulations (e.g. UVgO, VOB).
  • You will work closely with our scientific departments and actively contribute to the process-related development of our procurement function.
  • You are responsible for procuring services, consumables and capital goods in compliance with public procurement law and ensure an economical and legally secure execution of all procurement processes.
  • You provide competent advice to our staff on all procurement-related matters and support them from the request for requirements through to commissioning.
  • You maintain and manage our equipment inventory and ensure transparent and structured documentation.
  • You serve as our Export Control Officer and, when required, represent our Customs Officer to ensure that all procedures are handled properly and within deadlines.

Requirements

  • University degree (Bachelor) in Business Administration (or a comparable field) or a completed commercial apprenticeship (e.g. industrial clerk, wholesale and foreign trade clerk) with several years of relevant professional experience
  • Professional experience in procurement, ideally in an institution funded with public funds or in the public sector
  • Preferably experience with public procurement law
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Ideally experience with SAP ERP systems (Ariba, S/4HANA)
  • Excellent German and good English, both written and spoken
  • You enjoy taking responsibility, work independently and actively contribute to the team
  • Your structured and precise way of working, together with a strong customer- and service-orientation, complete your profile.
