About the role

  • UI Designer creating accessible, high-fidelity user interfaces for Global Digital experiences at Ford. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure effective product designs.

Responsibilities

  • Own UI design execution for Global Digital product experiences, delivering polished, accessible, high-fidelity interfaces from concept through launch.
  • Create development-ready design deliverables: responsive layouts, detailed mockups, component variants, interaction states (default/hover/active/focus/disabled), and annotated specs.
  • Apply and evolve design system patterns to maintain consistency, speed delivery, and improve quality across teams.
  • Design for accessibility and inclusivity by default (contrast, typography, focus states, keyboard patterns, readable layouts across devices).
  • Build interactive prototypes to validate interaction patterns, page behavior, and complex states, and to align quickly with partners.
  • Partner with product, content, and engineering to shape user flows, information hierarchy, and page-level experiences that balance customer needs with business goals.
  • Use data and feedback (site analytics, experiments, usability findings, customer input) to iterate designs and improve outcomes.
  • Present work and rationale to stakeholders with clear storytelling, options, tradeoffs, and recommendations.
  • Support implementation through close engineering collaboration, UI QA, and refinement to ensure what ships matches the intended experience.
  • Contribute to near- and long-term experience vision across devices and locales, focusing on scalable UI patterns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in UI design, product design, visual design, or UI roles with significant high-fidelity UI ownership.
  • A portfolio demonstrating exceptional UI craft (layout, typography, hierarchy, interaction states) plus end-to-end product thinking, with case studies.
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field (even better).
  • Experience designing consumer-facing web or mobile product experiences at scale (even better).
  • Expert Figma skills (auto layout, components, variants, libraries), and comfort working within a design system (even better).
  • Strong visual design acumen demonstrated through owning product UI end-to-end and raising polish and consistency (even better).
  • Experience collaborating tightly with engineers and understanding front-end constraints and patterns (responsive behavior, performance considerations, frameworks) (even better).
  • Experience running or partnering on discovery and validation (interviews, usability testing) and translating insights into shipped improvements (even better).
  • Familiarity with Agile/Lean delivery and iterative release cycles (even better).
  • Experience designing for global markets, localization, and content variability (even better).
  • Desire to thrive in a fast-moving environment (even better).

Benefits

  • Immediate medical, dental, and prescription drug coverage
  • Flexible family care, parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, subsidized back-up childcare and more
  • Vehicle discount program for employees and family members, and management leases
  • Tuition assistance
  • Established and active employee resource groups
  • Paid time off for individual and team community service
  • A generous schedule of paid holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day
  • Paid time off and the option to purchase additional vacation time.
