About the role

  • Systems Simulation & Robustness Engineer designing and validating complex vehicle features using simulation methodologies. Focused on ensuring feature robustness working in an Agile environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of system models using Matlab, Python and Magic Draw to define logical architectures and behavior.
  • Develop and execute complex control strategies using Matlab Simulink & Stateflow to validate logic before implementation.
  • Perform SiL (Software in Loop) testing to verify feature performance against requirements early in the design cycle.
  • Champion the Failure Mode Avoidance process; lead and facilitate DFMEA workshops to identify risks and define mitigation strategies.
  • Apply 6 Sigma (DMAIC/DFSS) principles to solve complex engineering problems and improve system reliability.
  • Analyze warranty and quality metrics (GQRS, AWS) to drive continuous improvement in current and future designs.
  • Develop and maintain Behavior Driven Development (BDD) scripts using Gherkin syntax to translate requirements into executable tests.
  • Create and manage Step Definitions using the Behave package in Python.
  • Ensure traceability between requirements, architecture, and test cases using tools like JAMA and Jira.
  • Define and analyze Electrical Architectures, including ECU topology, sensor/actuator interfaces, and signal distribution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align Unified Backlog priorities and manage dependencies in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Simulation Mastery: Advanced proficiency in Matlab Simulink
  • Coding Skills: Strong working knowledge of Python for scripting and test automation.
  • Testing Frameworks: Experience with BDD/Gherkin and test automation workflows.
  • Robustness: Deep understanding of DFMEA methodologies and quality processes.
  • Communication: Understanding of vehicle networking protocols (CAN, Ethernet).
  • Functional Safety: Familiarity with HARA, Safety Goals, and FSRs/TSRs.
  • Cybersecurity: Basic understanding of TARA and Cybersecurity requirements.
  • Ford Tools: Experience with Ford internal tools such as FEDE, VSEM, and GPDS processes.
  • Software Development: Basic knowledge of Python and Embedded Software principles (AUTOSAR).
  • Version Control: Experience using Git/GitHub for managing models and code.
