  • Physical Operations Digital Modeler at Ford creating automotive design surface models. Integrating engineering requirements and collaborating with teams to ensure model quality and feasibility.

Responsibilities

  • Concept/Class A Surface Generation: Create 3D concept and/or Class A & B side surface data from 2D sketches, scan data, production data, and verbal direction from designers, modelers, prototype, DTO, and fabrication. Utilizing Alias/SubD/Catia/Vred
  • Develop intricate surfaces up to Class A quality, incorporating first flanges and fillets, to support both physical clay/hardboard/fabrication and digital model development processes.
  • Feasibility Integration: Expertly integrate crucial feasibility requirements including engineering, aero, manufacturing, package, and architectural constraints directly into surface and parts data for physical models.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Interface seamlessly with program, operations teams and downstream activities to enhance surface and part development from initial design intent through to final data and verification release.
  • Problem Solving and Resolution: Develop creative solutions to complex engineering, manufacturing, and design challenges. Lead digital/AR/VR reviews to drive resolution of surface data issues.
  • Data Management and Progression: Manage digital library to archive the progression of design, prototype, assemblies and armatures. Manage B side and part data for physical builds for design and prototype.
  • Quality Assurance: Diligently follow design critique sheet processes and perform zebra stripe analysis, incorporating feedback to ensure superior surface and part quality. Liaise with design, digital modeling and DTO to compile information necessary for model, prototype development.
  • Monitor modifications for existing armature, part data, glamor, protype, I/O, and design physical builds.

Requirements

  • 3D Surface Modelling Expertise: Minimum 5 years of proven experience in developing 3D surface models, specifically utilizing Alias and/or ICEM Surf.
