Responsibilities
Responsible for cooling design of electric motors for Electric Vehicle applications
Create thermal models for electric motors based on operating conditions and cooling method
Perform thermal analysis and design optimization
Work with electrical design engineer to finalize electro-magnetic design
Work with CAD designers to develop prints for all mechanical parts
Work with transmission design team to define cooling method and cooling demand for electric motors.
Develop cooling system for electric motor test housing for dyno tests.
Build, test and evaluate electric motor prototypes
Requirements
B.S. or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
2+ years of experience in electric motor cooling design and thermal analysis.
2+ years of experience with FEA package for thermal analysis.
M.S. or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (even better)
5+ years of experience in electric motor cooling design and thermal analysis (even better)
Powertrain D&R experience with mechanical design background (even better)
Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up and statistics (even better)
5+ years of experience with FEA package for thermal analysis (even better)
Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks (even better)
Excellent communication skills (even better).
