About the role

  • eMotor CAE Core Engineer developing cooling designs for Electric Vehicle motors at Ford. Collaborating on thermal analysis and optimization of electric motor components.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for cooling design of electric motors for Electric Vehicle applications
  • Create thermal models for electric motors based on operating conditions and cooling method
  • Perform thermal analysis and design optimization
  • Work with electrical design engineer to finalize electro-magnetic design
  • Work with CAD designers to develop prints for all mechanical parts
  • Work with transmission design team to define cooling method and cooling demand for electric motors.
  • Develop cooling system for electric motor test housing for dyno tests.
  • Build, test and evaluate electric motor prototypes

Requirements

  • B.S. or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience in electric motor cooling design and thermal analysis.
  • 2+ years of experience with FEA package for thermal analysis.
  • M.S. or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (even better)
  • 5+ years of experience in electric motor cooling design and thermal analysis (even better)
  • Powertrain D&R experience with mechanical design background (even better)
  • Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up and statistics (even better)
  • 5+ years of experience with FEA package for thermal analysis (even better)
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks (even better)
  • Excellent communication skills (even better).
