- eMotor CAE Core Engineer developing cooling designs for Electric Vehicle motors at Ford. Collaborating on thermal analysis and optimization of electric motor components.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for cooling design of electric motors for Electric Vehicle applications
- Create thermal models for electric motors based on operating conditions and cooling method
- Perform thermal analysis and design optimization
- Work with electrical design engineer to finalize electro-magnetic design
- Work with CAD designers to develop prints for all mechanical parts
- Work with transmission design team to define cooling method and cooling demand for electric motors.
- Develop cooling system for electric motor test housing for dyno tests.
- Build, test and evaluate electric motor prototypes
Requirements
- B.S. or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- 2+ years of experience in electric motor cooling design and thermal analysis.
- 2+ years of experience with FEA package for thermal analysis.
- M.S. or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (even better)
- 5+ years of experience in electric motor cooling design and thermal analysis (even better)
- Powertrain D&R experience with mechanical design background (even better)
- Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up and statistics (even better)
- 5+ years of experience with FEA package for thermal analysis (even better)
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks (even better)
- Excellent communication skills (even better).
