About the role

  • Internship in Body Structures Design Engineering at Ford, focusing on vehicle upper bodies and CAD modeling.

Responsibilities

  • Team and Scope: The Body Structures Design Engineering team is hiring to design Ford's next generation of global "tophats" (vehicle upper bodies).
  • Core Responsibility: Transforming initial ideas into hardware that is ready for market launch.
  • Technical Design Tools: Ownership of CAD modeling using CATIA V5 or 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX).
  • Engineering Standards: Applying GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and performing tolerance stack-up analyses.
  • Component Ownership: Engineering all exterior and structural components to meet Ford’s craftsmanship and quality targets.
  • Testing and Validation: Involvement in hands-on builds, CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) correlation, and supplier collaboration.
  • Launch Support: Providing engineering support at the plant from the prototype stage through the final launch.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborating with safety, ergonomics, studio design, and manufacturing teams.
  • Strategic Balancing: Managing the trade-offs between styling, safety, cost, mass, sustainability, and craftsmanship.

Requirements

  • Active student from any of the last 2 semesters of **(completar)**
  • 90% English skills (Oral, reading, writing, and listening)
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Programming Skills (coding in VBA Excel macros, Python desirable)
  • Microsoft Office management (Power BI, Word, Excel, and Power Point)
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and assess possible solutions
  • Ability to prioritize and plan effectively
  • A commitment to keep up to date with new technology
  • Excellent team working and people skills
  • Leadership, persuasion, and influence on others
  • 3D CAD software desirable (CATIA V5, NX, etc)
  • PDM systems knowledge desirable (Teamcenter Engineering/3DX).
