About the role

  • Senior Manager managing state tax audits and controversy at Fiserv. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to resolve tax issues effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage state and local income / franchise tax audits, notices and inquiries from initial contact through resolution
  • Coordinate data requests, draft responses to IDRs and inquiries, and manage communications with tax authorities
  • Evaluate audit findings and identify opportunities to mitigate exposure through settlement
  • Partner closely with Federal and State compliance teams to ensure consistent application of tax positions
  • Collaborate with the domestic planning team to analyze audit trends, identify planning opportunities, and ensure alignment between controversy and planning positions
  • Partner with tax accounting and reporting teams to ensure accurate and timely recognition of audit reserves and adjustments
  • Maintain documentation of audit positions, correspondence, and settlements in accordance with internal controls and SOX requirements
  • Monitor and interpret state tax legislative and regulatory changes and assess their potential impact on the company
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and risk management within the controversy area

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience with a strong technical and applied knowledge base of State and Local (and US Federal) tax laws
  • 8+ years of state and local tax experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of state income / franchise tax rules and audit procedures
  • Experience managing multiple state audits concurrently through resolution
  • Bachelor's of Science in Accounting or related degree
  • CPA, JD or MST preferred
  • Big 4 Public Accounting experience or Fortune 500 multi-national company experience & CPA; Financial and/or technology industry experience
