About the role

  • Oversee the daily BAU operations of Finastra’s current and future data management solutions, ensuring data classification, retention, and destruction practices align with internal policies, standards, global regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Work closely with corporate and product Data Owners, Stewards, and Custodians to ensure all data classification, retention, and destruction is executed in accordance with Finastra’s data management standards.
  • Support the delivery of projects as part of a comprehensive program to catalog the entire global data landscape – both corporate and customer data.
  • Ensure Finastra's data management and governance platform has a current, complete, and accurate list of assigned Data Owners, Stewards, and Custodians.
  • Manage data ownership roles & responsibilities attestation process, which ensures all listed Data Owners, Stewards, and Custodians affirm their understanding of assigned data roles and responsibilities.
  • Assist in executing Finastra’s annual data classification attestation intake process to validate and ensure the completeness, accuracy, and quality of metadata across all records.
  • Support the development and deployment of data governance frameworks, including compliance, security, and data quality rules, as well as scorecards and monitoring dashboards.
  • Assist in gathering Multi-Factor Authentication and encryption evidence to validate protections for data in transit and at rest during the organization’s data classification intake process.
  • Collect corporate and product data models and dictionaries to maintain compliance with Finastra policies, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Assist with the implementation of a unified compliance automation platform that will service regulatory requirements and requests across 130+ countries.
  • Support the adoption of platforms for data access control and monitoring, data quality, data lineage, data enablement throughout Finastra.
  • Work with Data Governance Lead and Finastra’s Global Data Office to operationalize the Enterprise Data Governance Policy and associated standards across Finastra.
  • Assist in defining and monitoring key performance indicators to assess the overall maturity of the data governance function, with particular focus on metrics related to data quality, data literacy, and usability.
  • Assist with the delivery of various enterprise-wide data management communication strategies, business and technology education sessions, while maintaining the Enterprise Data Management Intranet site.
  • Help Data Governance Lead drive compliance with the Enterprise Data Management Policy by promoting adherence to Enterprise Data Management Standards and SOPs.
  • Prepare quarterly Enterprise Data Governance Council, monthly working group, and other data governance presentation materials.
  • Help the Data Governance Lead update and create SOPs.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4+ years of experience supporting global data governance and management programs in banking or other highly regulated sectors.
  • Experience in contributing to the design and maintenance of metadata, data lineage, cataloging, data quality, and business glossary solutions, while ensuring regulatory compliance and meeting client contractual commitments.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) and familiarity with concepts like data lakes, data warehouses, and big data pipelines.
  • Demonstrated experience in administering systems to support compliance with international privacy laws, including CCPA, GDPR, PIPEDA, and similar regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong experience running daily data governance, data lifecycle management (including creation, retention, archival, disposal), data quality, regulatory and compliance requirements and reporting.
  • Proven experience supporting enterprise data governance in sectors that are subject to regulatory oversight.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: automated metadata catalogs, compliance automation platforms, master data management, and data quality or lineage tools.
  • Shows excellent ability to work with corporate and industry auditors, smoothly supporting audit processes for both internal operations and global activities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a comparable discipline is a benefit, but not mandatory.
