About the role

  • Senior architect at the Fédération québécoise des municipalités contributing to municipal infrastructure projects. Engaging in design, project management, and collaboration with regional municipalities.

Responsibilities

  • Under the authority of the Director of the Infrastructure and Climate Change Adaptation Division, play a key role in delivering architectural mandates for expert advisory, design, and professional support.
  • Contribute to a variety of projects (including town halls, municipal garages, libraries, community facilities, and heritage buildings) and to the sustainable improvement of living environments.
  • Define the needs of municipal clients and ensure strategic and operational planning of architectural interventions.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, preliminary analyses, and prepare functional and technical programs (PFT).
  • Design and develop plans, specifications, and budget estimates for construction, renovation, rehabilitation, or code-compliance projects for municipal buildings.
  • Perform building condition assessments.
  • Advise and support municipalities in the management of their architectural projects.
  • Actively participate in the development, review, and updating of standardized documents.
  • Draft technical requirements.
  • Support the compliance analysis of bids and submissions.
  • Provide professional opinions, second opinions, and technical expertise.
  • Provide rigorous support to client municipalities.
  • Act as a mentor and technical advisor to junior architects.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of the architecture service.

Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Architecture and be a member in good standing of the Ordre des architectes du Québec (OAQ).
  • Have a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience as an architect, ideally in multidisciplinary or municipal contexts.
  • Have strong knowledge of the laws, regulations, codes, and standards applicable to architecture, including the Quebec Construction Code (and the National Building Code), the Architects Act, land-use and planning legislation, as well as safety and accessibility standards.
  • Have a strong command of sustainable design principles, energy performance, universal accessibility, and sound management of public buildings.
  • Be functionally proficient with architecture-related software, including AutoCAD/Revit and the Microsoft Office suite, and demonstrate the ability to quickly learn new digital tools (BIM collaboration platforms, project management platforms, etc.).
