About the role

  • Decision Science Manager supporting the Farmers Independent Agency Distribution team through data analysis and strategic insights. Mentoring staff and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Provides critical decision support for Farmers Independent Agency Distribution team across the enterprise by gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing data to address business challenges.
  • Applies advanced or innovative mathematical, statistical, and quantitative techniques to draw conclusions and deliver actionable recommendations that drive efficiency, growth, and profitability.
  • Interprets large datasets to extract meaningful insights and trends then communicates findings to business partners and leadership to support informed decision-making.
  • Mentors, trains, and coaches less experienced team members and supervises direct reports who are individual contributors or people leaders with small span of control.
  • Leads discussions with cross-functional business partners and teams to understand and collaborate on complex business objectives.
  • Shapes solution strategies and outcomes by leveraging broad knowledge of the business and overseeing collaboration across teams to ensure alignment and effectiveness.
  • Uses breadth of expertise in data analysis to deliver insights that enable informed decision-making.
  • Develops and implements advanced or innovative mathematical, statistical, and quantitative techniques to solve medium-to-large scale business problems that significantly impact current and future business strategies.
  • Analyzes large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and business opportunities.
  • Conducts comprehensive exploratory data analysis (EDA) to uncover opportunities including testing hypotheses and validating findings with business partners.
  • Coordinates with cross-functional technical teams including IT, data scientists, data engineers and others to ensure data integrity and optimize data pipelines.

Requirements

  • Minimum seven years of work experience required in data analysis, statistical or mathematical modeling, or related.
  • Experience in a people leader or management role required.
  • Experience in insurance industry with independent agency data preferred.
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Advanced storytelling skills with ability to communicate complex data insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills.
  • Strong ability to craft strategic business plans and translate them into actionable steps for direct reports and indirect teams across three or more business domains.
  • Proven ability to drive strategic enablement and contribute to enterprise strategic plans.

  • Ability to influence internal and/or external constituents.
  • Demonstrated ability to explain strategic concepts to those unfamiliar with them.

  • Strong proficiency in applying advanced statistical and machine learning concepts and tools.
  • Broad knowledge of data analysis and manipulation tools (SQL, Python, SAS, R, and/or Snowflake).
  • Broad knowledge of data visualization tools (example, Tableau, Power BI).
