About the role
- Senior Safety Engineer supporting Nuclear safety case development for submarine defueling and dismantling. Requires engineering degree and knowledge in nuclear safety.
Responsibilities
- Provide Nuclear and Radiological knowledge and support to the business
- Provide technical advice on Nuclear Safety Assessment processes and policy
- Ensure compliance with statutory legislation and the terms of the Site Licence
- Deliver Nuclear Safety Cases and Licencing Plans
- Develop and implement Nuclear Safety processes and standards
- Get involved in the development of a new Safety Case
Requirements
- Educated to Degree level in an Engineering or Scientific discipline and/or have relevant knowledge and experience
- A background in nuclear/radiological safety is highly beneficial
- Registered as a Chartered Engineer (or be working towards chartered status)
- Good interpersonal skills and be competent in verbal and written communication
- Specific experience in Deterministic Safety Analysis to support Safety Case development
- Ability to operate and interface effectively with Senior Managers and internal stakeholders
- Must satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements, which may require SC clearance
